MANCHESTER, N.H. — Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson stopped by the Airport Diner on Sunday to talk with customers and potential voters.

With just two days to go before New Hampshire voters come out to the polls, candidates are out and about persuading undecided voters.

“We have a very string ground effort here,” Carson said. “I think as you travel the state, you can see all of the Carson signs, a lot of door-to-door activity, and a lot of telephone calls.”

The retired John Hopkins neurosurgeon is working to appeal to voters who are upset with the establishment wing of the Republican party. However, Carson says he is not representative of any political party.

“I don’t fit in the party. I don’t fit in any party,” he said. I’m a very non-traditional candidate, and I am not a politician. But where do I fit in in general? ‘As a member of we the people.’”

Despite him trailing in the most recent regional polls, Carson seemed confident he would be successful on Tuesday.

“As long as someone doesn’t say I dropped out, I’m expecting a pretty good showing,” Carson said, making a dig at fellow candidate, Ted Cruz.

Cruz’s campaign implied Carson was dropping out of the race in several misleading messages sent out on the night of the Iowa Caucus.

The Texas senator publicly apologized to Carson during Saturday’s ABC News debate.
