CommonsMANCHESTER, N.H. — Vermin Supreme, perpetual presidential candidate here, says his role in this busy election season, where the candidates are caught up fighting among themselves, has been to break away from this typical association of political campaigning.

The American performance artist and activist who runs as a candidate in various elections throughout the United States is known for wearing a boot as a hat, and has said, “If elected president of the United States, he will bring awareness of the zombie apocalypse.”

I met with him as he was being removed from the 2016 McIntyre-Shaheen 100 Club Celebration — a Democratic event to cheer the anniversary of the primary — for dropping his pants while going through a security checkpoint. Supreme was extremely upset at the behavior of the event staff and said this was a tactic to stifle his attempts at political office. He still continues to run as a presidential candidate while in New Hampshire and hopes to win recognition in the eyes of the voters.
